UPDATE - Algeria: Justice given to women in Hassi Messaoud

Algeria: Justice for women in Hassi Messaoud We have received news that on 3 January 2005, thanks to a large national and international mobilization of women's organisations, justice was done.
The court sentenced the 20 accused men to 20 years imprisonment in absentia and out of the 6 accused that were present, 3 were sentenced to 8 years, 6 years and 3 years imprisonment respectively, while 3 others were acquitted.
WLUML's call for action was mentioned very positively in the Algerian press.
