Le ministère tunisien de l'Intérieur a annoncé le 14 février des contrôles renforcés envers les personnes portant le niqab.

"Cette mesure a été décidée au vu de la menace que connaît le pays et parce que des suspects terroristes utilisent le niqab... pour se déguiser et échapper à la justice", a expliqué le ministère.

Il a demandé aux gens de faire preuve de compréhension et d'aider les unités chargées de la sécurité à faire leur travail.
