Pakistan/UK: Both countries to set up bodies to assist in child custody cases

The protocol agreed upon in London in January this year aims to expand cooperation between the two countries to resolve family disputes and child custody cases without delay. It also looks forward to the nomination of a judge of the superior court from each side to work in liaison with each other.

The liaison judges Justice Muneer A Sheikh and Lord Justice Matthew Thorpe will work at advancing the objects of this protocol besides exchanging information and statistics about such cases.

Addressing a press conference here at the residence of the British High Commissioner, Dame Elizabeth Butler, President of the Family Division of the High Court of England and Wales said the protocol was a breakthrough in judicial cooperation between the two countries and was aimed at resolving child custody cases.
