WLUML INTERNATIONAL COORDINATION OFFICE
Position: Publications Officer (Production Editor/Assistant Editor)
Full-time: 5 full working days per week
Location: London (Archway), United Kingdom
Salary: Negotiable
The London-based International Coordination Office (ICO) of Women Living Under Muslim Laws – International Solidarity Network (WLUML) is currently inviting applications for the position of a full-time Publications Officer.
The role involves managing a Publications Programme including a set number of periodic and occasional titles per year. The main role is to organise, coordinate and facilitate WLUML’s publications, in collaboration with the Publication Committee and the global network.
Acting as an assistant-editor, the position will be responsible for:
- Suggesting themes and planning publications;
- Coordinating the sourcing of contents, editing, organising reviews, managing translations of documents in English, French and Arabic;
- Verification and printing of publications;
- Updating WLUML glossaries and Style guidelines;
- Preparation of the Resource Section and Country Reports of each Dossier;
- Being in contact with pools of translators, publishers, printers, page makers and designers;
- Managing the WLUML publications stock;
- Managing the Publication budget in collaboration with the Finance and Administrative Officer;
- Preparing suitable training materials and audio-visual materials for WLUML collective projects.
Excellent command of the English language, proven research and writing skills are essential for the role. Ability to prioritise and good time management is essential. The ideal candidate should have at least two years’ demonstrable experience of editing and/or publication production, preferably in the non-profit sector as well as a high level of knowledge of feminist discourse and human rights issues. The minimum qualification required for the role is a B.A. in the humanities or social sciences. Commitment to women’s human rights is essential.
This position is only open to candidates who already have the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom. Prospective candidates with French or Arabic language skills and women belonging to minority ethnic communities are strongly encouraged to apply.

The London-based International Coordination Office (ICO) of Women Living Under Muslim Laws – International Solidarity Network (WLUML) is currently inviting applications for the position of Executive Director.
The role involves managing the International Coordination Office and assuming overall responsibility over the administration, management and programmatic activities; ensuring sound financial management of the ICO and taking major responsibility for ICO fundraising and ensuring that fundraising needs are fulfilled in order to maintain a sustainable organisation with a diverse funding base.
The ideal candidate should have:
- Multi-functional international senior management experience at Director/Board level, preferably partly gained in an international NGO;
- Intimate knowledge and personal commitment to women’s rights issues;
- Ability to work with different teams in multi-cultural and diverse settings;
- Proven ability to provide inspirational and strategic leadership, enhancing organisational capacities and effectiveness;
- Natural ability to influence and direct on the basis of authority, persuasion and expertise;
- Strategic thinking and an ability to translate strategy into organisational outputs;
- A pioneering attitude; persistence, patience and a relentless drive to achieve results; women’s rights;
- Budgeting, financial management and monitoring skills and experience;
- Effective communication skills and public speaking experience;
- Good computer skills (word-processing, spreadsheet, Skype or other VOIP).
This position is open to candidates with knowledge and/or work experience in Muslim contexts and countries; Fluency in spoken and written English (a plus would be a working knowledge of French and/or Arabic).
