The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Umar Musa Yar’adua is now confronted with his past and the role he played in the sentencing of Amina Lawal Kurami to death by stoning by a Sharia Court in 2002.
This event was organized to commemorate the 10th anniversary of BAOBAB for Women’s Human Rights with the theme ‘The Challenges of Religious Fundamentalisms and Globalisation to Women’s Human Rights.’ It was held from 24-25 November 2006 in Lagos.
The Tribunal forms part of activities to commemorate 16 days of activism against gender violence 2006, to provide a forum for victims of women’s human rights abuse to speak out against the violations and attract public condemnations of the abuses.
