Anniesa Hussain joined WLUML in 2020, initially as UK Coordinator for the “No Peace Without Women’s Rights in Afghanistan” campaign. She has since gone on to contribute to WLUML as a researcher and heads up The WLUML Podcast, which was set up in 2022. Her primary area of focus is religious minority groups within an Islamic context, examining state and non-state persecution and discrimination of marginalised groups and individuals from non-Muslim beliefs. Anniesa holds a Msci degree in International Relations & Global Issues from the University of Nottingham, and her professional portfolio includes working in religious minority advocacy, youth and women-led grassroots and civil society movements, peacebuilding projects, media and communications.
