Hilal Işık

Hilal Işık, who worked professionally and voluntarily in many NGOs such as Transparency International and Climate Action Network, joined WLUML in April 2020 as a fellow. She is a Berlin based scholar holding MA degrees in Human Rights Law from Istanbul Bilgi University (2018) and in European Studies from European University Viadrina (2019).  As part of her fellowship at WLUML, she wrote her first book, ‘Rebel with Rhythm, Shatter with Words’, which focuses on Muslim female rappers, who use rap music as an activist tool. Hilal Işık works on topics such as human rights, migration and asylum, feminist activism, data feminism and masculinities. In addition to her research, she also takes part in the digital communication team of WLUML.
